Zach LaVine is more than just a dunker.
When you hear his name you think of his amazing leaping ability , him being one half of the Bounce Brothers , and you think Minnesota Timberwolves.
Zach was born with good genes his dad played professional in the NFL. His name Paul LaVine and his mother was a sofball player. Zach Strap was was born in Renton , Washington and got his love for basketball after seeing the movie Space Jam. I mean Space Jam gave a lot of kids hoop dreams but , Zach went to work on making those dreams reality. While attending Bothell High Zach worked on his game constantly and started to gain media attention. The kid couldn’t be stopped don’t believe me ? Check the video below.
As you can see Zach was a man amongst boys playing in High School putting up major numbers. This got him considered as a five-star recruit on top of that he was ranked as the 27th best playing in the nation in 2013. Zach had promise and still does to this day. Zach wasn’t an All American but , he was named Washington Mr. Basketball and the 20013 Associated Press Washington State Player of The Year. In 2013 LaVine announced he was taking his talents to UCLA as a Freshmen the star power was starting to grow. He didn’t come in as a starter but an explosive 6th man in the Bruins 2013-2014 campaign. Even though he endured growing pains in the transition struggling with shooting , he still continued to work hard. Zach’s hard work earned him a spot on the Pac 12. All-Freshmen Team. Then he made a risky move , even though he didn’t make major wave Zack announced in April 2014 he was going to enter the NBA Draft.
Not a top 5 pick but Lavine rounded out in the Top 15 being drafted by the T-Wolves at 15. Zach started getting ready for this season making some noise in the NBA’s Summer League. With the season ahead we was set to be teaming up with Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio. Until the T-Wolves made a trade for the #1 Draft pick Andrew Wiggins. The Bounce Brothers were born.
Zach is in his rookie campaign right now. , which started off rough. But as always the hard world prevails and the promise shows. On November 28th he showed the world great things are to come. Zach played against Kobe’s Lakers and had 28 Points.
With that Zach became the 2nd teenager in NBA history to come off the bench and have at least 25 points with 5 assists. Kobe Bryant happened to be the other and it’s said Kobe was impressed with Zach’s play. Now at the half way point of the season Zach has seen 21 starts , had some impressive highlights , and was named to the NBA’s Rising Stars challenge. The year isn’t over and his career is just getting started. Who is Zach LaVine ? He is an amazing young talent , who works hard on the court , and leaps over defenders in a single hop.
