After a disappointing 1st round exit sweep the Pacers are getting ready for a different king of future.
One that may not include superstar small forward Paul George and will definitely not include Larry Bird. Yesterday, Larry Bird announced that he is stepping down as the President of Basketball Operations for the Indiana Pacers. Bird has had a pretty successful run as the President since the early 2000s. In the 2011-2012 season Bird was named NBA Executive of The Year.
Many wonder what lead Bird to this decision, was it his time to go?, was he forced to step down?, or does Bird want to do something else within the organization. Word is that he will stay on in an consultant role. ESPN analysts Brian Windhorst and Ramona Shelburne believe the challenging of rebuilding the team and losing Paul George is just too much for Larry to deal with.
We do wish Larry Bird the best in his future endeavors.
