Fitness Myth – you can lose fat from different regions of the body by exercising those areas
In order to get the most out of your workouts, it is important to be informed so that time is not wasted focusing on things that will not work towards your goals. Knowing what not to do is just as important as knowing what to do.
Many people walk into the gym asking for me to suggest ab exercises to them so that they can lose stomach fat.This is where I take two minutes to re-educate them.
The truth is, when you exercise, you utilize energy produced by metabolizing fat from all regions of the body and not any one particular area. For example doing sit-ups will not create fat loss in the abdominal area any quicker than fat loss of any other region of the body.
So for all those who were planning on laying on the ground for twenty minutes doing sit-ups you can get up now and walk towards the kitchen where there is a better chance of you losing fat.
