Afraid of heights?
Maybe not so much after you check out this beautiful structure….
Key West is a tourist landmark with over three million visitors annually, located at the bottom of Florida better known as “Mile 0.” When visiting Key West, one must travel along the Overseas Highway. This highway is called the “magic carpet” which is said to be a modern wonder by Florida natives.
The highway is the southern part of U.S 1, running 113 miles consisting of 42 overseas bridges. Tourists ride along this magnificent structure because of its historic significance but also the mesmerizing beauty that’s captured while driving along. You will see colorful seascapes, the sea color changing from see through water, turquoise blue and deep green. With swaying palm trees and clear blue skies.
The Overseas Highway is the only all American roadway in Florida. It was constructed by Henry Flagler when he extended his Florida East Coast Railroad. The most famous part of the highway is the iconic Seven Mile Bridge at Marathon. Looking just as impressive in reality as it did in films such as 2 Fast 2 Furious, License to Kill, and Mission Impossible 3.
Make sure when visiting The Keys, to ride along The Overseas Highway, it’s one of the most scenic drives you’d ever take in America.
