Fine dining restaurants are a dime a dozen. But there are few that offer an experience as unique and exotic as the Imperial Fez Moroccan restaurant, in Atlanta, Georgia.
As soon as you step foot in the door, you are immediately transported to Morocco. Following Moroccan tradition, guests leave their shoes at the door and sit around the table on oversized pillows, while enjoying authentic cuisine which is eaten by hand. In addition to delicious food, belly dancers provide the entertainment.
Imperial Fez specializes in event dining experiences, and can be quite expensive. For example, a dinner for a large party of about 12 people, can cost up to $1,200. But before you panic, you must consider that the total dining experience lasts up to 2 1/2 hours and includes a 5 course meal consisting of soup, salad, appetizers, entree, desert, and a performance by belly dancers. If you aren’t dining with a large party, you can still enjoy the full experience, however, you still have to order a 5 course meal, which starts at about $45 per person. If you’re not interested in the full traditional experience, you can still enjoy great food and hookah next to the main dining room at the Casablanca Lounge.
Imperial Fez offers special weekly events from Wednesday through Sunday. Wednesday night is Ladies Night where the ladies can enjoy a 3 course meal and learn how to belly dance with professional belly dancer Zaina Zahra. Thursday night is Lover’s Night. For $100 couples can have a 3 course meal with a complimentary bottle of champagne. Friday night is the Arabian Nights Couscous platter party, and you can get a 5 course meal for only $30 per person. Saturday is the Hookah Hookup. After the purchase of a 5 course meal, guests can get one hookah for free at the Casablanca lounge and dessert for $1. Sunday is Family Sunday and kids under 12 eat free. The restaurant is closed to the public on Monday and Tuesday, but hosts large party events of 25 or more confirmed guests.
If you’re ever in Atlanta on a visit, or if you live here and want to try something new, I would definitely recommend this spot for its uniqueness and for the cultural experience. Imperial Fez is located on 2285 Peachtree Road N.E., in Atlanta, GA., and is open on Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 6 pm-10pm, and on Friday and Saturday from 6pm-11pm.
