Celebrity chef and co-host of The Chew Carla Hall has brought a taste of Nashville to Brooklyn, with her Carla Hall’s Southern Kitchen restaurant.
The signature item on the menu is Nashville style hot chicken. Unlike other restaurants which serve Nashville Hot Chicken, at Carla Hall’s customers get to choose the level of spiciness of their chicken from 1 (no sauce, mildest offering) to 6 (hottest, but can add extra spicy oil for a dollar). Chicken can be ordered by the piece or by the plate (which includes two sides and bread). If you want to try the various spice levels of chicken at the same time it is recommended that you get the chicken tender flight which you get 6 tenders each of different spice (heat) level.
To compliment the chicken Carla Hall’s offers a variety of southern inspired side dishes which include hot favorites like baked mac and cheese, which you can’t go wrong with, candied yams, collard greens, as well as cold sides to contrast with the spiciness of the chicken like tangy cole slaw and potato salad. If you have room for dessert there is pound cake, vanilla shortbread, Whoopie Pie, Nana Pudding and Buttermilk softserve to try. Also the restaurant has an array of cocktails enjoy alongside your meal which each cocktail cost only $9, but if you want something alcohol free a mocktail can be whipped up for three dollars cheaper.
Despite being headed by a top celebrity chef, the meals at Carla Hall’s Southern Kitchen are quite affordable and a meal plate cost under $15.
The restaurant has also gotten a little celebrity endorsement from the likes of Sherri Shepherd and Angela Bassett who have been customers at the restaurant.
Carla Hall’s Southern Kitchen is located in Brooklyn at 115 Columbia St.
