In the 90’s a japanese manga artist by the name of Takehiko Inoue created an anime comic series called “Slam Dunk”. Slam dunk featured an young high school character by the name of Hanamichi Sakuragi who plays basketball for Shohoku High School. Sakuragi began as an outcast at his high school with a reputation for causing trouble. After a girl rejected him, he tried out for the basketball team, where he showcased his natural athleticism and helped turn his previously unknown high school team into an all-star contender in Japan.
Teaming up with Jordan brand to commemorate this historical and beloved Japanese series we see the use of classic silhouette in the Air Jordan 6. An all-red upper with imagery fans of the 31-volumed manga series would surely recognize to both anime collectors and sneakerheads alike.
