Compton…a city that we most closely associate with NWA, The Game, Kendrick Lamar, and a history of gang violence.
What many of us do not know is, Compton has a very diverse history and unexpected beginnings.
With the help of The Game, A&E is releasing an original three-part documentary titled “Street of Compton”. This series, will give viewers a closer look at the City of Compton as seen through the eyes of those who call or have called Compton home, as well as highlighting the impact that the environment had on the music and culture that came out of the city during the 80s and early 90s.
“Streets of Compton” will include interviews with actress Niecy Nash, comedian Paul Rodriguez, former Black Panther Robert Johnson, as well as Mayor Aja Brown, members of the Compton Police Department Gang Unit and many others. The Game himself, was very instrumental in the creation of this project for A&E, serving as one of the Executive Producers. The series will include music from his new project, also titled “Streets of Compton” which is set to be released on June 17th. Following the first episode on June 9th, The Game will debut the video for his League of Starz produced single, “Roped Off” which features Problem & Boogie.
