Last Friday, slain singer Selena Quintanilla received her star on the famed Hollywood Walk of Fame.
It has been 20 years since the singer’s tragic death, and yet she still remains one of the best-selling Latina artists of our generation. The unveiling ceremony held on Friday, November 3rd drew a crowd of hundreds of people including celebrities and fans alike. Among the celebrities in attendance, were Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and Edward James Olmos who portrayed her father in the 1997 biopic Selena, staring Jennifer Lopez. Also in attendance was actress Eva Longoria, who expressed how important Selena was and still is to the Latin community and how she continues to be an inspiration to young Latina girls all over the country.
Like so many that have gone before her, Selena will never be forgotten and her legacy will continue to live on. Her star on the Walk of Fame is well-deserved and far overdue.
