(Apr. 15, 2016 – New York, NY)  18-year old British singer-songwriter James TW, whose powerful single and video “When You Love Someone” was released earlier this year on Island Records, has released FIRST IMPRESSIONS, his debut 6-song EP today. Starting tomorrow, James will join the Shawn Mendes World Tour 2016, the Island Records global superstar’s sold-out 39 date tour across Europe and North America, running through August.  Last month, James opened for Shawn at his sold-out headlining concert at Radio City Music Hall in New York on March 5th.  Please see tour dates below.

“I am very excited to be going on Shawn’s World Tour. I’ve played in front of his fans before & they’re incredibly welcoming. I’ve had the dream of going on a world tour since I was 12 years old so it’s amazing that’s it’s happening now.” – James TW

Inspired by a life experience, James came up with the idea for “When You Love Someone” when he “was teaching drums to an 11 year old and found out that his parents were getting divorced before he knew about it. The first thing I thought was how are they going to explain it to him in a positive way and one where he would understand.  I wrote ‘When You Love Someone’ because I wanted there to be a song that he could listen to which would make him feel better about everything that was going on.”

James TW is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist (plays guitar, piano and drums) whose songs demonstrate critical elements of experienced songwriting that resonates with ease.  His lyrics offer a distinct point of view, conveying an incomparable wisdom about love, heartbreak and the world around him.  Widely appealing but hardly typical, James’ songs have weight and a sense of staying power that is rare in today’s pop music.

As a follow up to the release of his original song “Black and Blue,” James rose to prominence when his cover of Natalie Imbruglia’s “Torn” dominated the Spotify Global Viral chart, reaching the Top 10 with over 4 million streams.  His cover of “Torn” builds on past covers that James has posted on YouTube, which showcase his multi-instrumental skills and technical aptitude.
