According to sources, Paramount has given the green light for the creation of the sequel.
Jonathan Levine, director of Warm Bodies and 50/50 and Kenya Barris, the creator of Black-ish are teaming up to create the follow up to the classic 80s flick. Levine will direct the upcoming movie and Barris will be working on re-writing the script.
All of the details and planning for the film are still in the beginning stages, but it is rumored that Eddie Murphy is not only involved in the development of the sequel, but will also star in it as well. There is no word yet if Arsenio Hall or other stars like Shari Headley and John Amos will be reprising their roles in the new movie.
Coming to America, is one of my all-time favorite movies, so it is only natural to feel some sort of excitement and apprehension about the news of a sequel. It will be very interesting to see if volume 2 can live up to the success of the first movie, and make the audience laugh just as hard.
