2017 promises to be a huge year at the box office.


There is no doubt that there will be a little something for everyone this year in the theaters, especially for comic book lovers and action movie buffs. Here is just 17 of the most anticipated movies that will hit theaters this year:


1.Hidden Figures– The untold story of the African-American women that worked for NASA, and were behind the launch of astronaut John Glenn into space. The film stars Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monae. In theaters January 6th.


2. Underworld: Blood Wars–  The fifth installment of the Underworld franchise, which is centered around a new generation of vampires and werewolves locked in a never-ending battle between the races, starring Kate Beckinsale. In theaters January 6th.



3. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter– The last chapter in the Resident Evil series, continues where Retribution left off. Alice returns to the Hive in Raccoon City, where the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse must fight against the Umbrella Corporation. In theaters January 27th.



4. Fifty Shades Darker (Pictured Above)– Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson reprise their roles as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in the second installment of the Fifty Shades trilogy. After ending their relationship in the first film, Christian tries desperately to win back Ana’s affections, but this time it will be on her terms. In theaters February 10th.



5. Logan– Rumored to be Hugh Jackman’s final performance as the Wolverine, this film is based off the Old Man Logan comic book.  In theaters March 3rd.



6. Kong: Skull Island–  A team of explorers go deep into an uncharted island in the Pacific not knowing that they are entering the territory of the mythic Kong. Starring Tom Hiddleston, Corey Hawkins and John Goodman. In theaters March 10.



7. The Fate of the Furious–  Vin Diesel and the remaining Fast and Furious cast return for the 8th installment of the series. The crew seems to have returned to normal life after being exonerated and retired from the game, until a mysterious woman pulls Dom back into a life of crime that he can’t escape. The turn of events threaten the bond of the family and pushes them all to the test.  In theaters April 14th.



8. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2– The team embark on a new adventure as they try to unveil the mystery of who Peter Quill’s parents really are.  In theaters May 5th.



9. Alien: Covenant– Directed by Ridley Scott, this film is the second chapter in the Alien prequel trilogy. The crew of the ship Covenant set out to explore a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, only to discover that what they think is paradise, really is a dark and dangerous world. In theaters May 19th.



10. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales–  Johnny Deep returns to the screen as Jack Sparrow in an all-new adventure where he faces the escaped Captain Salazar and his ghost pirates, who are determined to kill him and every pirate at sea. The only chance at survival is seeking out the Trident of Poseidon which is believed to bring it’s possessor total control over the seas. In theaters May 26th.



11. Wonder Woman– Gal Gadot stars as Wonder Woman in this film based off of the DC comic heroin. In theaters June 2nd.



12. The Mummy– Kicking off Universal Pictures’ new movie franchise Dark Universe, The Mummy is a new and refreshed version of a classic. Starring Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella and Russell Crowe, an ancient Egyptian Queen is awakened in the modern day to seek revenge for having had her destiny taken away from her. In theaters June 9th.



13. Transformers: The Last Knight–  This is the second installment of a new trilogy of Transformers movies, the first being the Age of Extinction. Mark Wahlberg stars as inventor Cade Yeager who helped the Autobots in the first movie. In theaters June 23rd.



14. Despicable Me 3– Steve Carell is back as Gru in the third installment of the Despicable Me series. In theaters June 30th.



15. War For The Planet of the Apes– Caesar and the apes engage in battle with an army of humans led by the Colonel, that will ultimately determine the fate of both species on the planet. In theaters July 14th.



16. Justice League–  Batman and Wonder Woman set out to form a team of super humans including Aquaman, Cyborg and the Flash, to help stand against a new found threat. Staring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot and Jason Momoa. In theaters November 17th.



17. Star Wars Episode VIII–  The Star Wars saga continues with Episode VIII. Rey continues her journey with Finn, Poe, and Luke Skywalker. Starring Oscar Isaac, Benicio Del Toro and Daisy Ridley. In theaters December 15th.
