Grammy Award winning R&B songstress Chrisette Michele has decided not to back down after receiving public backlash for agreeing to perform at a concert in Washington DC for Donald Trump’s Inauguration, and has explained why she has stood her ground in regards to her decision to perform.


Using a quote from Dr. Martin Luther king Jr. in explaining why she performing for Trump’s Inauguration, Michele said, “We can’t be present if we’re silent.Our lives begin to end, the day we become silent about what matters,” Chrisette further explained that by performing at the concert her intention is to serve as a bridge. “I am willing to be a bridge.I don’t mind ‘These Stones’, if they allow me to be a voice for the voiceless.”


Numerous other celebrities have spoken out publicly about declining invites from Trump to perform at his Inauguration Concert.Other singers who were scheduled to perform such as Jennifer Holliday canceled after receiving negative response from her fans as well as threats.
